Tell the attorneys, in confidence
If you know something that could help, you can tell the attorneys here.
What you send goes into a sealed box. Only the attorney's office opens it. Nobody else sees it first. Not the community, and not the volunteers.
You do not have to give your name. If you do, the attorneys can ask you questions and tell you what came of it, which helps most. If you do not, they will still read every word. In a small town and a small department, details can point to a person; say only what you are ready to say.
Send anything that could help: what you saw, what you heard, names, dates, documents, emails, messages, photos, recordings. You do not have to decide what is allowed or what counts. The attorneys decide what can be used. If something you send cannot be used, the attorneys will not use it. If you left a way to reach you, they will tell you. Where the law allows, they will destroy it.
What do you know? [A large text box. No length limit.]
Files, if you have any [Add files: photos, documents, audio, video. Any number.]
How can the attorneys reach you, if you want them to? [Phone, email, or anything you choose. Leave it empty to stay unknown.]
A note: if you write to us on WhatsApp, WhatsApp shows us your phone number. If you want to stay unknown, use this page.
We cannot pay for information. The law does not allow it. If you used to work for the City or its Police Department, this is for you too. If you work for the City now, the law protects City employees who report to certain public officials, such as the Iowa Office of Ombudsman. It does not cover a report to us. You may want to think about your own position, or ask a lawyer of your own.
